Challenges of the right in light of technology

The use of technology in the field of law works to make life easier for all its users, that is, its application as a whole becomes more efficient so that an excellent service is provided.

Currently technology has exceeded its own limits, innovating surprisingly and quickly, thus becoming a necessary tool for many sciences, and law is no exception to the rule, however the evolution of law in technology presents several challenges such as costs, effective interaction and problem solving in real time, among others.

Law is a science that, although it tries to adapt to the needs of the human being to try to regulate as many areas as possible, its advance is not as fast in countries like Guatemala, where technology is growing and is inserted by leaps and bounds.

However, the situations in which we live every day put more and more pressure on the law to evolve and reinvent itself without losing its principles, this to try to offer a new platform in which it can be exercised in a simpler and more effective way.

It is worth mentioning that the governments of many countries have tried to implement digital tools to make legal procedures much simpler and faster, and Guatemala is no exception, such is the example of the Commercial Registry that has joined to innovate taking advantage of technology and creating thus a platform to be able to enter documents online, where lawyers who use said platform do not have to go to the institution so many times to carry out a procedure.

However, these platforms still have deficiencies and challenges to become one hundred percent effective, this due to several factors that arise.

• Costs.
• Legal security.
• Effective interaction.
• Problem resolution.
• Unification of institutions.
• Amendments to the law.
• Competence.
• Lack of innovation.
• Intertitude

These challenges should not be confused with impediments, they are simply elements that delay the evolution of law in the world of technology, but when they are effectively developed, the take-off of this matter will be definitive.

Technology allows to have a broader panorama of what happens in the world in real time, providing and empowering lawyers for the tools to be more competitive and innovative in the use of technology in law, since its impact includes society in general, companies and the public sector.

For the law, technology is a challenge. Starting with the speed that its processes entail, its components that also need active regulation and the solutions that it must provide, not only from the norm but through the use of the principles of law that complement the laws, if there are any. empty.

Flexibility in the new regulations is vital , the rules should not be strictly limited to one subject, but rather look at a broad perspective where these new technologies are developed.

Which innovative topics present the most challenges for lawyers?
• Artificial intelligence.
• Internet of things.
• Robotics.
• Cryptocurrencies.
• Drones.
• Self-driving cars (without humans)
• Biotechnology, nanotechnology.

The challenges are part of the growth of science, and in law this is not an exception, it is part of the evolution to obtain more and better results on little-researched aspects for human use.
