On 7 April 2016, the Turkish Law on the Protection of Personal Data (the “New Law“) has entered into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette. Whereas Turkish data protection law previously depended on scattered provisions of privacy in various codes and regulations, the New Law will provide the general framework for the protection of personal data henceforth.
