Saudi Investor Commits to Develop Islamic Tourism in Lombok
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – An investor from Saudi Arabia Akmal Saleem has expressed his commitment to develop a tourist destination for Muslim travelers on one of the islands in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
“The tourist destination will be developed for Muslim families the world over for them to enjoy vacation while still experiencing spiritual atmosphere,” the Saudi-based Maarij Captial boss was quoted as saying by Antara news agency.
“We will build a hotel for Muslim families, a halal restaurant, and an indoor pool for women,” he explained, adding that the Islamic tourist destination would also have a library.
He went on to say that the destination would be built on a separate island wherein a women-only beach would be developed.
“Men-only beach and family-only beach would also be developed. All will be separated from each other,” he explained.
Akmal said that he loved Lombok and Mataram, having previously visited them both.
He was even more convinced that halal tourism investment in Lombok would be a good move knowing that Lombok had won the award of World’s Best Halal Honeymoon Destination andWorld’s Best Halal Tourism Destination in World Halal Travel Award 2015 in Abu Dhabi, Uni Arab Emirates.
Akmal is hopeful that the Islamic tourist destination could be unveiled around 2017 or early 2018.
