People & Places: Junior Achievement Classic golf tournament
Millions of students each year gain a better understanding of the world of business and how to succeed in it through the efforts of Junior Achievement.
The Oklahoma chapter of Junior Achievement during the last school year helped more than 55,000 students by providing hands-on experience that fosters work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills.
These programs, and the help of thousands of volunteers, teach young people to value free enterprise, business and economics through the support of teachers, parents and volunteers in the classroom, and to understand how the “real world” works.
And because a lot of “real world” business often is done on the golf course, it stands to reason that one of Junior Achievement of Oklahoma’s principal fundraising activities involves golf.
The 13th annual Junior Achievement Classic takes place Monday at Owasso’s Patriot Golf Course. The four-person scramble tournament will include a lunch catered by Red Rock Canyon Grill and an awards reception.
