The end of the year finds Paraguay in the midst of a favorable economic climate, however, there are still some political issues that need to be resolved.
In terms of the economy, news continue to be positive, as the negotiations for export of Paraguayan meat to the US market have been resumed, preliminary figures issued by the Paraguayan Central Bank demonstrate that there has been a steady economic growth and low inflation rates throughout the month of October and Paraguay´s position in the annual World Bank “Doing Business” study has improved greatly, jumping from the 109tth position last year to the 92nd position.
However, there are still debates over the imposition of a 15% tax on grain exports. In terms of politics, leaders are wrestling with the task of keeping a balance over the 2015 budget and Congress is currently discussing the impeachment of four of the nine Supreme Court Justices.
