Oksana Howard, a Senior Corporate Associate at Colman Coyle and Head of its CIS desk, was a speaker for Great Britain at the market entry panel discussion at the IR Global EEM in Prague, together with seven other lawyers representing seven Eastern European jurisdictions, including Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland and Slovenia.

The discussion revolved around the issues facing international businesses and entrepreneurs who are trying to break into various foreign markets and jurisdictions.  Topics covered by the discussion included: the liability of directors and shareholders, D&O insurance, preferred company types, screening of foreign investors, AML issues and the applicability and enforceability of Shareholders’ Agreements in various jurisdictions.

Oksana found this panel discussion extremely useful, as it gave an insight into various practical differences between the jurisdictions, all of which would help to advise her international clients on the most appropriate choice of corporate entity and jurisdiction, suitable for their specific commercial and tax needs.
