21 delegates attended the annual Morison KSi African Conference held at the Ole Sereni Hotel on 2-4 July 2018. The conference was largely focused on developing the African region, showcasing initiatives aimed at supporting and developing both new and established firms within the region.
The event was opened by Liza Robbins, CEO of Morison KSi, who gave a brief overview of the objectives and developments in the region as well as announced the new Chairman of Morison KSi Africa, Ashvin Gokhool, KSi Mauritius.
The conference welcomed a number of high-profile speakers who addressed the audience on their specialist topics, with presentations ranging from world’s leading mobile phone-based money system (Vincent Opiyo, Head of Finance Operations, Safaricom) to the importance of virtuous leadership (Dr George Njenga, Founding Dean, Strathmore Business School) and the challenges and opportunities for African professionals in terms of the quest for development (Professor PLO Lumumba, Director, Kenya School of Law).
In addition to the professional sessions, the delegates enjoyed a visit to Five Talents’ microfinance ventures in a village in Embu county. Here, they learnt about a microfinance model in Africa that allows those in
need to start small businesses and build sustainable incomes, and saw the successes of such an initiative first hand. The participants also had a chance to sample delicious Kenyan dishes and enjoy the performance of the Safari Cats, a team of world-class African dancers and acrobat.
Thank you to all firms and speakers who attended and made this event a success.
