The Federal Council set the new provisions on the Commercial Register to come into force on 1 January 2021 (meeting dated 6 March 2020). The Commercial Register will be able to continue to fulfil its important function in the service of security and the efficiency of legal transactions. In addition, the public will benefit from lower fees in the future. In order to continue the work on the central database of persons, the corresponding provisions in the Swiss Code of Obligations and the Commercial Register Ordinance already will come into force on 1 April 2020.
