Menu of types of Collective Investment Schemes in Malta

The implementation of the AIFMD in Malta brought about significant changes in the regulatory regimes for funds and their managers. For regulatory purposes, a distinction is now made between the following main types of collective investment schemes (“CISs”), when established in Malta:

  1. Professional Investor Funds;
  2. Alternative Investment Funds;
  3. Retail Collective Investment Schemes, including UCITS;
  4. Private Collective Investment Schemes.
