05 April 2018 –With the recent launch of specialist IP firm mdp’s first interstate office in Sydney came a need for the patents team to expand to service their growing technology client base both locally and overseas. Joining mdp Patents is Associate Patent Attorney Shu-Yen Lee, who holds a PhD in Optical Physics from the University of Adelaide.
Shu-Yen brings with her a speciality in handling patent and design filing and prosecution across a broad range of disciplines, including medical devices, physics, building and construction, machine tools, mining and general mechanical devices. Her vast experience has helped many Australian and international clients protect their inventions and design registrations.
Prior to registering as a patent attorney, Shu-Yen worked at the Australian Patent Office (IP Australia) as a patent examiner, senior process analyst and acting senior patent examiner. It was there that she gained invaluable experience in examining and searching patent applications.
Shu-Yen’s PhD research focused on the detection of non-absorption resonances in a Samarium atomic system. She also holds a Master of Industrial Property from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a Bachelor of Science with Honours from the University of Melbourne.
More recently, Shu-Yen has worked as a Patent Attorney for a larger national firm.
