A seafarer was travelling from his home to the vessel where he was offering his services. While riding
his motorbike, he had an accident resulting to temporary inability to work.

The seafarer sued the shipowners claiming labour accident remuneration.

The Court found this was a labour accident. To reach this decision it checked whether the accident was linked to the employment. And although it did not occur during the rendering of services by the seafarer onboard, it occurred by reason of the employment, ie on his way to the vessel.
