Ellisons Solicitors incorporating Gross & Co.
We are excited to announce the merger of Gross & Co. with Ellisons, which came into effect on 1st August 2019. The merged Firm will be known as ‘Ellisons Solicitors incorporating Gross & Co.’ for an initial period.
The merger has given Ellisons a second office in Suffolk – along with a presence in London – and will offer greater strength across new and existing practice areas. This merger will bring a high level of complementary expertise and 25 additional legal specialists, complementing the almost 250 colleagues working in our other six offices across Essex and Suffolk. With its reputation for immigration and charity law, Gross & Co. will help to bolster Ellisons’ offering nationally and internationally.
All Gross & Co. staff will continue in their roles following the merger and remain in the Grade II-listed premises on Guildhall Street, Bury St Edmunds. Senior Partner, Graeme Kirk and Finance Partner, Sohan Sidhu will continue as Partners, while Elizabeth Hodder will remain in her role as head of the Family team in Bury St Edmunds. Existing Gross & Co. clients can be reassured that your usual contact at the firm will remain the same as will the office telephone number and address.
Graeme has specialised in business immigration law since 1981, dealing with all aspects of business and private client immigration (other than asylum) including the UK points-based system, and family immigration. Graeme’s client base includes high net-worth individuals and entrepreneurs.
Both Graeme and Sohan are listed in the Who’s Who Legal 2019, which recognises leading international solicitors in their specialist fields. They are the only East Anglian solicitors to be recognised for the specialism of Corporate Immigration Law, with entry to the publication achieved by nomination only from lawyers around the world. Graeme and Sohan are also featured in the Legal 500 and have advised and assisted many East Anglian businesses as well as clients throughout the UK in relation to UK immigration issues. Sohan has specialised in immigration law since 1997 and alongside his colleague, Meenal Goyal, Solicitor within the Immigration team, both are fluent in Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.
Guy Longhurst, Managing Partner at Ellisons, said: “We are delighted to be announcing this merger with Gross & Co., not least because there is so much synergy between our firms. We are confident that our new and existing clients and colleagues will benefit from the greater opportunities and services that the merger presents.”
Graeme Kirk added: “I’m very excited to welcome Ellisons to its new home in Bury St Edmunds. It is a wonderful opportunity to grow the business further, and with Guy’s family connections within Bury St Edmunds’ legal community, I’m very much looking forward to developing our client relationships both past and present.”
