GvW Graf von Westphalen has advised the UK based Redgate Software Group on its acquisition of Flyway, the biggest cross-platform database migrations tool.

Redgate with its headquarters in Cambridge (UK) develops software used by over 800,000 IT professionals and is the leading Microsoft SQL Server tools vendor. More than 100,000 companies, including 91% of companies in the Fortune 100, use Redgate tools.

Flyway, a cross-platform database migration tool, developed by Axel Fontaine based in Munich (Germany), has seen an estimated 23 million downloads of its free community edition and a growing list of commercial customers using its paid-for editions.

Following the acquisition of 3T Software Labs in 2015/16 (more), the Flyway acquisition is the second German acquisition for the Redgate Group that will retain its focus on strengthening and extending its portfolio of SQL Server tools.

Under the lead of Hamburg based partner Dr. Ritesh Rajani (Corporate/M&A), the Redgate Group was advised by a team consisting of partners Christian Mayer-Giessen (Corporate/Commercial), Dr. Christian Triebe (IP) and Lutz Leonard Lamprecht (Real Estate, all Hamburg), associated partners Karsten Kujath (Employment, Frankfurt), Dr. Maren Mönchmeyer (Commercial) and Johan van der Veer (Insurance) as well as associate Laurens Klinkert (Corporate/M&A, all Hamburg).
