“I am very excited to join the team at Blanchard, Krasner & French.  The firm’s principles of cutting-edge, creative problem solving and strong client service are a perfect fit for my practice style.  I am personally very glad to be working with my Nevada Supreme Court Staff Attorney colleague Liz Basset and with my colleague Cortney Young, who is an outstanding dispute resolution professional.”

Cortney joins the firm as a Mediator whose approach to dispute resolution combines years of litigation experience with a pragmatic problem-solving style. Her mediation practice is focused on the resolution of disputes, including, but not limited to, asset valuation, securities, probate and trust disputes, breach of contract, homeowner association disputes, foreclosure and super-priority mediation, boundary disputes, landlord-tenant, and complex civil litigation. Cortney brings over a decade of litigation and trial team experience where she participated in the resolution of millions of dollars annually in eminent domain and other real property claims as part of Chapman Law Firm.

Cortney received the Reno-Tahoe Young Professionals Network’s Twenty Under 40 award in 2017, and is heavily involved in the community.  She is currently President of the Nevada Dispute Resolution Coalition, a Member of the Reno Human Rights Commission, and Founder of the Children’s Cancer Classic, which is a charity basketball game played by the District Attorneys and Public Defenders.

“Dispute Resolution is a rapidly growing area in business and in the legal field.  It is very gratifying to work with a team that has the vision and entrepreneurial mindset to explore emerging opportunities in dispute resolution. I look forward to utilizing my skills and experience as a non-attorney mediator to help businesses and individuals resolve their conflicts.”

Steve Silva and Cortney Young have recently co-authored along with Honorable Peter Buchsbaum, (Ret.) the article “Alternate Dispute Resolution in Condemnation Cases: An Eminently Agreeable Solution”.  This article will be featured in ALI CLE’s The Practical Real Estate Lawyer’s July issue.
