Barbados Welcome Stamp: Working From Home, Away From Home In Beautiful Barbados
Walks on the beach, Caribbean delicacies, the ocean, the island lifestyle: the perfect setting for what may have become our new normal: working remotely from home.
Work and play!
During this pandemic, many businesses were able to adapt and embrace a working fromhome approach. The beauty of working from home is that it can actually be done from any location with a good internet connectivity.
The Barbados’ 12-month Welcome Stamp programme allows exactly this: visitors can come and work remotely from Barbados for up to a year. The documentation required includes evidence of income of a minimum of US$50,000 per year and health insurance.
Background checks will be conducted, and procedures are being put in place so an application should be processed within approximately one week.
On approval, a fee of US$2,000 for an individual, or US$3,000 for a family, will apply.
There’s plenty of golf to be played in Barbados!
An individual with a Welcome Stamp will be treated as a visitor to Barbados. This person will continue working for his current overseas employer and paying income tax according to his home country’s rules. No tax return or other similar obligations will need to be filed in Barbados.
For those who are looking for a long-term or permanent relocation, Barbados also has other regimes, including the Special Entry and Reside Permit (“SERP”). Purchasing a property on the island may render its owner eligible for the SERP as the key prerequisite consists of an investment of US$2M. A SERP may be granted for a 5 year period, renewable, or for the applicant’s lifetime for those of at least 60 of age. Solutions other than the SERP are also available.
With its prime real estate, great lifestyle and well thought immigration and tax policies, Barbados remains a destination of choice. We look forward to meeting you in Barbados!
