Established in February, 2018, Bind is the result of the merger between TMA (Tenreiro Martins, Tomás & Associados) and the majority of the team from ACE (Alvim Cortes, Esperança, Vaz Osório, J.P. Menezes Falcão & Associados).

Admitted to the Bar in 2000 and founder of BIND, Rui has a Law degree by the Lisbon Catholic University and a postgraduation in Labour Law by the same university.
He worked for three years as a legal adviser to the Labour Secretary of State, having participated in the legislative process of the Portuguese Labour Code (2003) and for three years as a legal advisor to the Portuguese Competition Authority (2006).
Rui is a member of APODIT (Portuguese Labour Law Association).
He has developed expertise in the area of individual and collective employment relations, high-management counselling, as well as advising in all other aspects of employment law. Rui is recognized by his clients as a key role person in helping define their legal strategy and approach.
Some of his clients are leading international companies which require a wide array of national and international contacts dealing with multi-jurisdiction legal matters.
He frequently writes in several of the Portuguese major newspapers about labour law issues. Rui also participates in conferences as a lecturer.
