Michele Mordiglia

The firm was established in 1950 by Aldo Mordiglia (1915 – 2003), who remained at the helm until the age of 80. Thanks to the determination of its founding member and the contribution of the partners who joined him over the years, the firm now boasts eleven partners and ten associates. Studio Legale Mordiglia’s most recent venture was the opening of its Milan branch in 2006.

The firm has expanded activity into many fields, always in keeping with both the evolving market and the changes in the profession.

Qualified lawyer since 1980, specialized in litigation and legal counsel on maritime and international law, Michele acquired a vast experience in the matter of environmental damages and marine pollution. Furthermore he is usually engaged with damages to cargo carried by land and sea, maritime casualties, contractual disputes, ship’s arrest and brokers’ and ship agents’ professional liability on behalf of the most important P&I clubs. Michele acts as counsel for important Italian shipping companies connected to the shipping world (ships’ engines’ revision and maintenance, crew employment, catering, etc.) and attended as speaker various seminars on maritime and international law, in Italy and abroad. Admitted before the Supreme Court of Cassation since 2014, Michele acts also as Arbitrator in Italian arbitration proceedings and legal adviser of shipowners, ship agents and forwarding agents all over Italy. Member of AIDIM (Italian Association of Maritime Law), in 2011 he contributed to the publication of “Shipping & International Trade Law”, edited by David Lucas Hill Dickinson LLP, with a chapter on Maritime Law in Italy
