Read & Share: Tesla Tops List of Most Valuable Carmakers
Tesla recently made history by surpassing Toyota to become the most valuable car manufacturing company in the world. Last week Tesla closed at a market capitalization of $184 billion, $4.3 billion above Toyota. In the last year, Tesla’s share price has soared to nearly 350 percent, reaching a valuation of more than seven times its revenue of 2019. To put that in perspective, Toyota is currently valued at approximately 0.6 times its annual revenue, which is why many believe that Tesla is overpriced. Delivery and sales figures support that claim. While Tesla delivered less than 400,000 electric cars in the 12 months ending on March 31st, Toyota sold almost 10.5 million cars during that same period, which is about ten times as many as Tesla has built in the company’s lifetime.
