Background

The coffee shops in the Netherlands exist in their current form thanks to the Dutch tolerance policy. The Dutch government has now started an experiment with a closed coffee shop chain. Following to the Dutch government, the main objective of this experiment is to find a form for the responsible and decriminalised cultivation, transport and sale of quality controlled cannabis that serves the consumer well.

Growers can apply for the experiment from the 1st of July until July 28, 2020. The Dutch government will ultimately appoint a maximum of 10 growers to start the experiment with.
