Extensive experience in ship finance transactions including bank loans, government subsidized Title XI loans, leveraged lease transactions, Economic Development Authority loans and large fleet transactions under US, Liberian, Marshall Islands and Vanuatu flags. Clients include banks, shipowners, shipbuilders, yacht builders and others. Transactional work includes general corporate matters, employment agreements, software licensing agreements, review of leases and company policy manuals, and exemptions from the US Gross Freight Tax. Represented tug companies in joint ventures involving the construction of specialized tugs and long term service contracts at LNG terminals. Engaged exclusively in transactional work since 1997.
Experienced in arbitration under the New York and Federal Arbitration Acts as well as the U.N. Convention in cases involving disputes concerning charter parties, ship sale contracts, joint venture agreements, yacht construction, sale contracts for bulk agricultural products.
Conducted trials in federal courts on contract disputes, handled creditors’ claims in bankruptcy and argued appeals in the Second and Fourth Circuits.
