Transfer Pricing Strategist Clark Armitage Named President of Caplin & Drysdale
WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 11, 2018: Caplin & Drysdale announced today that Clark Armitage — a Member working primarily in the transfer pricing space — was named President of the Firm. “Throughout his years with the firm, Clark has been both a team player and a thoughtful leader,” remarked his predecessor, Beth Kaufman. “He is the consensus choice to lead the firm forward.” Ms. Kaufman will continue as an active member of the firm’s Board of Directors.
Mr. Armitage, a member of Caplin & Drysdale’s award-winning International Tax and Tax Controversy groups, said “It’s an honor to be selected by my colleagues for such an essential role. A leading transfer pricing practitioner, Mr. Armitage has over 25 years of experience addressing the international tax concerns of multinational corporations. At Caplin & Drysdale, he has worked primarily on advance pricing agreements and Competent Authority matters for corporations in a wide range of industries. Mr. Armitage also advises clients on the intricacies of GILTI, FDII, the BEAT and other aspects of the recent Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Before joining Caplin & Drysdale, Mr. Armitage spent eight years in the IRS Advance Pricing Agreement Program, serving as Deputy Director from 2008 to 2010, where he experienced and oversaw the full spectrum of Program activities. He also served on a special detail as the Tax Treaty Manager responsible for Canadian Competent Authority cases and was coordinator for the Program’s Financial Products, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, and Auto and Auto Parts groups. Additionally, Mr. Armitage had Program-wide responsibility for reviewing cases, coordinating technical issues with other branches of the Office of the Associate Chief Counsel (International), and helping ensure that substantive and procedural issues were addressed consistently across the Program.
