An overview of the PRIIPS regulation and its implementation
Regulation (EU) 1286/2014 on key information documents for packaged retail and insurance-based investment products (“PRIIPs Regulation”) began to apply on 1 January 2018.
The PRIIPS Regulation requires persons and entities advising on or selling a packaged retail and insurance- based investment product (PRIIP) to deliver a key information document (KID) to their retail investors before they invest in a PRIIP. KIDs are concise standardised documents presented in a consumer-friendly manner. They are designed to help investors understand the features, costs, risks, and potential gains or losses of an investment product and to facilitate the comparison of different PRIIPs.
