mdp is excited to announce that it will be launching a Sydney office on 1st February 2018. Expanding on the firm’s headquarters in Melbourne, mdp’s second office will be based at 111 Elizabeth Street, in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, and will focus on the firm’s core practice areas of intellectual property and commercial law.
Director Sarah Gilkes will head up mdp’s new branch office. Originally from Sydney, Sarah is returning to that city after working in Melbourne for the past eight years. She holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of New South Wales, and spent the first five years of her professional life in Sydney before her move to Melbourne. Having practised law in both cities throughout the course of her career, Sarah is well-connected in both the Sydney and Melbourne markets.
Sydney, being one of the main innovation and technology hubs of the Asia-Pacific region, is a key market for mdp’s business.
“In the past couple of years, we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of domestic clients who have expanded outside of Victoria, and who are now operating along the Eastern seaboard. This, along with the growth in the number of international clients who are using Sydney as a base to access the Asia-Pacific region, means that the opening of a new office is the next logical step. A Sydney presence will enable us to offer a more comprehensive service to our client base,” says Sarah Gilkes.
mdp Sydney will work closely with the Melbourne office, utilising a cloud-based IT platform and communications system that allows the teams to work together seamlessly from anywhere in the world. Sarah and the Sydney team will continue to service existing clients from both Melbourne and Sydney.
We look forward to seeing you at our new office.
