Mr. Paramalingam received his education in the small town of Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia between 1974 to 1986. A successful career in law was always at the forefront of his ambitions and thus after completing his high school education, he enrolled for the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree course with the University of London. He graduated from the University of London in 1991 with an LL.B Honours Degree, and the Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) in 1993.
Mr. Paramalingam completed his pupillage at the legal firm of Messrs. H.B. Lim Farha & Lim in Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia in 1993. He was called to Malaysian Bar on 14.1.1994 and was duly retained by Messrs. H.B. Lim Farha & Lim as a Legal Assistant in 1994. He handled various types of civil litigation matters. In 1996, he was invited to join Messrs. K. Sila Dass & Partners in Kluang, Johor, Malaysia as a Legal Assistant, where he was handling both civil as well as criminal litigation.
In 2000, he joined the legal firm of Messrs Krish Maniam & Co. and was subsequently made a Senior Partner of the firm in 2004. In his 23 years of legal practice, he has developed an immense first-hand experience in a wide spectrum of legal cases, ranging from civil, criminal and commercial litigation, wherein he has handled a number of high-profile cases in the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court. He is also involved in commercial contract and due diligence works.
Besides his firm’s home base in Malaysia, he has also handled numerous corporate and individual clients from other Asean countries, China, India, as well as the United Kingdom.
Mr. Paramalingam also handles arbitration matters and had handled ICDR as well as OIC arbitrations in Singapore (involving the Singapore penny stock crash of October 2013) and Hong Kong respectively. Needless to say, Mr. Paramalingam is well-versed and indeed familiar with the legal frameworks from an international perspective.
Mr. Paramalingam’s gentle and calm demeanour never fails to put his clients at ease, which, needless to say, is a quality that every client seeks from a lawyer especially when relating the legal problems that they are facing. Besides his career in law, Mr. Paramalingam also has a passion in music and sports. He holds various music certificates in electric bass, guitar and saxophone. He is also the founding member of the Sports Law Association of Malaysia.
