Mr. Black’s practice is focused on representing regional and national contractors, owners, developers and sureties throughout the western United States. Much of his practice also involves insurance coverage issues, as well as real estate and commercial disputes. His education and background in construction make him uniquely qualified to provide legal representation in all phases of development and construction. With offices in Spokane and Seattle, the firm of Dunn & Black provides full service representation to the Construction Industry.
Mr. Black co-founded the firm of Dunn & Black, PS., in 1991 and he has enjoyed the practice of law for over 26 years. John holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction from the University of Washington. Following employment with a large regional contractor, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puget Sound Law School. He is licensed to practice law in Washington, Idaho and Alaska. He regularly appears in the U.S. Claims Court and Boards of Contract Appeals.
He provides advice to developers, contractors, banks and sureties throughout the west. He has successfully litigated and arbitrated complex construction disputes involving hospitals, schools, dams, military installations, mines and commercial projects, located throughout the United States and internationally. He serves as an arbitrator and mediator on complex construction disputes. He is a panel member of the American Arbitration Association and frequently conducts seminars for the Construction Industry.
Mr. Black has been named a Super Lawyer by Washington Super Lawyers Magazine. He has been selected by his peers as a Best Lawyer in America in the practice area of Construction Law.
