International Referral, the world’s largest exclusive network of advisory firms is delighted to introduce Daniel Iny of Sack Goldblatt Mitchell. Daniel has joined IR as our exclusive Employment Law (Individuals) Member in Canada (East).
Daniel Iny is a member of SGM’s civil litigation group. He began practising law in 2003 and joined the firm in 2008 after prosecuting environmental offences at the Ontario Ministry of the Environment.
Daniel handles a variety of civil and commercial disputes for individuals, institutions, trade unions, and not-for-profit housing co-operatives. His practice focuses on: (i) professional negligence and discipline matters, with a particular emphasis on defending lawyers sued for negligence; (ii) wrongful dismissal litigation on behalf of employees; (iii) defamation claims; (iv) contractual disputes; and (v) civil claims against the police. Daniel regularly appears before all levels of courts and tribunals throughout the province.
In addition to his litigation work, Daniel routinely provides legal advice to non-unionized employees at all stages of the employment relationship. He is frequently retained to advise on and negotiate employment contracts; address various issues that may arise in the course of an employment relationship; and to provide strategic advice upon termination, including helping to negotiate termination and severance packages in lieu of litigation.
