New Public Incentives When Contracting Unemployed Workers In Madrid

Commencing November 28, companies and self-employed people with their work centre or their office and tax domicile in the city of Madrid, will be eligible to receive the following subsidies:

  • 4.000€ for each new indefinite, full-time employment contract.
  • 1.500€ for each new temporary and full-time employment contract with a minimum duration of 6 months.
  • 4.000€ for each conversion of a temporary contract into an indefinite employment contract.

For part-time contracts the amount of the subsidy is reduced in proportion to the established working hours.

For companies with less than 10 employees the mentioned incentives are increased.

The employees must have been registered as unemployed in the Unemployment Office of the city of Madrid for at least one uninterrupted month and directly before their recruitment (except in the cases of converting a temporary contract into an indefinite one).

The employees who have worked in the 3 previous months with the same company or company group are being exempt from such subsidies, with the exception of converted contracts.

The beneficiaries of the subsidies are obliged to maintain the subsidized contract for at least 12 months or in the case of temporary contracts during the legal period. In the event of an early cancellation the employee must be substituted within one month by another person fulfilling the necessary criteria for the subsidy.
