Last Friday at about 5 pm,
an exhausted motley crew of six local businessmen finally pedaled into the
centre of Bordeaux after 380 miles of French roads, 21 hours in the saddle and
over 13,000 ft climbed. Needless to say, our destination was a very
welcome sight!
Although the journey was
extremely challenging at times, it was a great ride and fantastic experience,
made all the more special by the regular updates I received from JustGiving;
evidence of numerous generous donations. To date, over £2,700 has been
reaised for Macmillan
Christchurch. The other five guys in the team were
undertaking the journey for the local charity Boo, another great cause, for
which they’ve managed to raise some significant funds.
So many of you have been so
kind and generous with you donations and so thank you, thank you, thank you to you
all.
Accompanying many of the
donations are personal stories of the fantastic work that the Macmillian team
do and I have to say these were very inspiring to me; knowing what kind of help
the charity has given all these local people. This motivation was
especially needed whilst trying to get those legs to turn and grind up the
hills.
So thank you once again for those of you that have donated, if you have not yet
done so and would like to support this good cause, then please do by following
