Murphy & Landon is home to a team of Delaware’s finest trial lawyers. We have taken on major roles in months-long jury trials in complex business insurance disputes, where the amounts in controversy were in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Our work included mock trial presentations, jury selection, opening statements and closing arguments, and the examination and cross-examinations of expert and lay witnesses. In many complex cases, we worked in close partnership with law firms around the United States, at times for overseas clients.
We have also dedicated ourselves to representing individuals from diverse backgrounds with meritorious claims for wrongful death and serious personal injuries. Our law firm has obtained numerous multi-million dollar jury verdicts for injured plaintiffs and their families, including claims against large corporations and medical practices. Partners Frank Murphy and Roger Landon have a significant number of major jury verdicts to their credit. Mr. Landon alone has tried more than 70 cases to verdict. Our law firm is also known for working with out-of-state attorneys, including solo practitioners, small firms, and national plaintiff firms, at times in high profile litigation. An example is Barba v. Boston Scientific Corporation. There, our partner Philip Edwards joined with the Motley Rice firm in securing a $100 million jury verdict involving the sale and distribution of a vaginal mesh product, the largest personal injury verdict in Delaware history.
Our experience includes cases involving car and truck accidents, medical malpractice, products liability, and workplace injuries. We have been equally adept at resolving highly contentious cases through settlement, because we prepare every case with the expectation that the case will ultimately go to trial. We are routinely recognized publicly by our fellow Delaware attorneys as among the State’s best trial lawyers.
Our lawyers have tried cases in all Delaware Courts, state and federal. We have substantial experience in the Complex Commercial Litigation Division of the Delaware Superior Court. We have also handled numerous appeals to the Delaware Supreme Court, often to successfully defend the jury verdicts we have obtained for our clients. In addition to our Delaware practice, we also handle cases in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

A number of the cases we have successfully resolved at trial and by settlement can be described as novel, groundbreaking, and unprecedented. We have worked with clients and co-counsel who were unable to find another Delaware law firm to work with due to the highly difficult and sensitive nature of the claim. One example is a suit for sexual abuse of a minor resolved in our client’s favor brought against a sitting Delaware jurist.
