The Berlin law firm DSC LEGAL welcomes a new team member. The founding partners of the law firm, Dr. Peter Diedrich and Dr. Istvan Szabados, were able to gain the services of Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Schwintowski, a retired German Law professor from the Humboldt-University Berlin, as Of Counsel. Especially Prof. Schwintowski’s fields of research: Banking and capital markets law as well as energy law will further complement and strengthen DSC LEGAL’s areas of expertise.Thereby, Diedrich and Szabados consequently expand the law firm towards a specialization in the field of “renewable energies. Since its founding more than three years ago, the law firm has grown steadily, while maintaining its core conviction in offering professionally and personally individual yet comprehensive legal services to its clients.

Since 2000, Mr. Schwintowski is the managing director of the Institute for energy and competition law in local public economy (Institut für Energie- und Wettbewerbsrecht in der Kommunalen Wirtschaft e.V., EWeRK), which is scientifically concerned with energy law and energy-economic issues from the perspective of municipal companies and new players in the energy and power supply market. As a recognised expert in the area of network optimisation, he heads a specially dedicated research unit within the EWeRK. In addition, since 1996, Mr. Schwintowski is the chairman of the academic advisory committee of the association of insurees (Bund der Versicherten, BdV).
Curriculum vitae:
Prof. Dr. Schwintowski was born on 23 September 1947 in Bad-Harzburg. After vocational training and practice in the insurance business, Mr. Schwintowski studied law at Georg-August-University, Göttingen, graduated as Doctor iuris with a thesis concerning antitrust law in 1982 and qualified in 1986 as an Assistant Professor (Habilitation) at the Georg-August-Universität of Göttingen with the thesis “The private insurance contract between law and market”. As a regular professor, he taught commercial and corporate law at the Universities of Würzburg and Passau and since 1993 at the Law Department of the Humboldt-University of Berlin, where he became the Dean in 2003/2004.
